Claudio Marchisio has stressed that he wants to retire at Juventus rather than follow club legend Alessandro Del Piero and spend the twilight years of his career elsewhere.
Juventus opted against offering Del Piero a new deal in 2012, prompting the legendary attacker to leave the Bianconeri for Sydney after 19 years in Turin.
Although
Marchisio was keen to acknowledge the World Cup winner's legacy at the
club, he admits he is eager to emulate Roma's Francesco Totti and spend
his entire career at the side he joined as a boy.
Ale Del Piero has had a wonderful journey at Juventus that will never be erased from history, Marchisio told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Francesco,
on the other hand, has the fortune that he will be able to end his
career at the team he loves and I hope to be able to do the same.
I
do not need to be reassured about my future. I know that club
president Andrea Agnelli and general director Giuseppe Marotta have
faith in me.
