Gerardo Martino's excellent start with Barcelona is an early indication of what he can accomplish, Newell’s Old Boys president has claimed.
The 50-year-old has helped the Catalans to a perfect start in La Liga, winning their first three matches, while picking up his first trophy since being appointed coach in the summer with a two-legged victory over Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa.
Newell's chief Guillermo Lorente insists Martino is an exceptional trainer and tips him to have an illustrious career at Camp Nou.
"He came to prove himself in each of the teams where he had been," the Argentine club president toldMundo Deportivo.
"He has a knack for quickly adapting to his new surroundings. He has been very well received in locker room and has quickly gained the approval of the fans.
"I believe that the team quickly adapted to him, and he to the team and the city. He has already achieved his first trophy, but I’m sure more are coming.
"He will eventually be an idol in Barcelona."
