Chelsea will look to put the disappointment of last weekend’s defeat against Everton and a midweek Champions League loss to Basel behind them on Saturday evening when they entertain Fulham in a west London derby at Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho’s men are chalked up as warm favourites for this weekend’s clash, with William Hill making them just 2/7 [1.29] to claim all three points against Martin Jol’s side.
The Cottagers have endured a disappointing start to the campaign, having collected just four points from their opening four games and Martin Jol’s men were left bitterly disappointed last weekend as West Bromwich Albion snatched a point at Craven Cottage by virtue of a stoppage-time strike.
Given their poor start to the campaign, it is unsurprising to see the away side chalked up at a chunky 17/2 [9.50] with William Hill to enjoy victory at Stamford Bridge while the same firm go 9/2 [5.50] that the match ends all square.
Fulham forced a goalless draw on their last visit to Stamford Bridge and, should that result be repeated this weekend, William Hill will refund correct score and scorecast bets placed before kick-off on Saturday evening as a free bet.
However, a repeat of last season’s return fixture between the sides – a 3-0 triumph for the Blues – seems a more likely outcome this weekend as the Cottagers struggle to find their best form.
Fulham have claimed just a solitary clean sheet and managed just three Premier League goals of their own in their opening four league matches so they may find it tough to break down a resilient Chelsea side here.
