We continued our excellent start to the season with seven out of eight recent selections winning. The football betting markets have been kind to us of late and hopefully that continues. During a good run, it is important not to get carried away and adhere to your principles and staking plan.
The weekend has some very interesting matches in England, Italy and elsewhere and there are plenty of good value betting opportunities.
Borussia Dortmund for the Champions League
The Champions League has returned and we were treated to some excellent matches in midweek. The outright market looks wide open and I am keen to take on the market principals. Borussia Dortmund look great value at 22/1 [23.0] with Bet365 to lift the trophy in May.
Despite their opening day defeat in Naples, they can recover sufficiently to navigate their way through a tricky group. They reached the final last year and look an improved squad under Jurgen Klopp. They have already beaten Bayern Munich this season, who are favourites to retain their title.
The experience and confidence gained last season is a huge plus and they are entitled to be regarded as one of the top 4 teams in Europe. On that basis alone, 22/1 [23.20] looks a huge price and worthy of an investment.
Atletico Madrid have been supported from a general 40/1 [41.0] into 25/1 [26.0] with Bet365. This move is understandable as they will be a very tough team to beat under Diego Simeone and they have improved immensely over the last 2 years.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Hannover 96 continue to defy market sentiment with their excellent home record. They are routinely underestimated by layers and at 6/4 [2.50] offer good value to overcome Augsburg on Saturday.
